Gift Like You Mean It
Holiday advertising had become a sea of sales and sameness, with brands pushing more, faster, louder. But in 2020, a year marked by distance and uncertainty, people needed something more meaningful. So our strategy was to position Etsy as the place for gifts that make people feel seen, brought to life through intimate, specific stories that anyone could find themselves in. We brought that to life with "Gift Like You Mean It," redefining what it meant to give.
In year two, "Give More Than a Gift" built on the platform, showing that a thoughtful gift can mean far more than the item itself.
Find Greatness in the Making
As the world tunes in to witness Olympic athletes push the limits of possibility, we saw a parallel truth: that Etsy sellers are driven by the same spark, choosing the riskier, less trodden path in pursuit of something great, so our strategy was to position them as creative risk takers, walking the road less traveled in pursuit of greatness. We brought that to life with "Find Greatness in the Making," extending the idea of greatness beyond sport and into everyday creation, even in the face of doubt.
